The Division responds to qualified investment inquiries and matches client criteria with suitable local facilities. It also serves as a liaison between investors and local economic development professionals.

The Mississippi Advantage

Mississippi offers a great deal to businesses locating in the United States' southern tier of states. Whether your company is looking for a great business environment or a great living environment, Mississippi has what you are looking for in a business location.

Mississippi's labor force of nearly 1.3 million is comprised of some of the most dedicated and productive workers in the nation. Wage rates are competitive and directly correspond with the state's lower than average cost of living and cost of doing business. To ensure the productiveness and efficiency of its workers, Mississippi augments the existing skills of its workforce by offering new and expanding businesses customized employee training at little or no cost to the business.

Mississippi is on the move with a transportation network that is in place and on-line to ensure efficient access to the markets of the United States and the world. Highways in Mississippi are continually being improved. In 1987, the state embarked on a bold new program to add 1,811 miles of four-lane highways. The program will keep Mississippi's highway network at the forefront of the southeastern United States and enhance the state's position in competing for industrial development. Mississippi now boasts a highway network with nearly 2,500 miles of multi-lane highway.

Much of Mississippi’s early growth is attributed to the railroad system that traverses the state. These railroads are part of the national network providing quick movement of goods and passengers to all parts of the nation. Their comprehensive rail services include carload, trailer on flat car, container on flat car and mini-bridge shipments. Twenty rail systems serve Mississippi with 2,841 miles of track.
