Description: |
1. MUNICIPAL WATER, SEWERAGE, AND SOLID WASTE MATCHING GRANTS Grant funding is available for partial funding and engineering support for facility planning and construction for drinking water, wastewater (sewer), solid waste and non-point source pollution projects. These grants are primarily for the larger communities and boroughs in the State.
2. MINI-GRANTS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM Competitive grants of up to $30,000 per community per fiscal year are available to qualified community economic development projects which support business or community development activities, including projects using natural resources.
3. RURAL ALASKA BROADBAND INTERNET ACCESS GRANT PROGRAM Grant funds are available to acquire and install equipment, facilities and systems to provide local broadband internet access in qualifying communities. A 25% match is required either in cash or in-kind contributions. |
Eligibility Requirements: |
1. Must be a qualified community or borough.
2. Must be a municipality, tribal government, or non-profit organization applying on behalf of a community with a population of 5,000 or less. Must generate new income for the community or have the potential to improve the community's economy significantly and long-term. Project must obtain community consensus.
3. Applicant must be, or partner with, a telecommunications or cable provider. Receiving community must not have local dial-up internet access and must meet unemployment and population criteria. |
