Incentive Title: Infrastructure Grants
Description: 1) MAJOR ECONOMIC IMPACT AUTHORITY Infrastructure assistance to local communities for large scale projects are granted through the issuance of general obligation bonds. The amount of the infrastructure grant is dependant upon the funds needed to accomodate the project. Funds may be used for transportation, recreation, medical facilities, and other infrastructure needs within 65 miles of a project. 2) DEVELOPMENT INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM grants to municipalities or counties are provided by the state for the construction, renovation, or expansion of infrastructure needs. The grant is limited to $250,000 per project. 3) ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT HIGHWAY PROGRAM this program provides assistance to local communities for the construction or improvement of highway projects that meet high economic benefit project criteria. This criteria is any new investment of $50 million or more in land, building, or fixed assets. 4) MS ACCESS ROAD PROGRAM The MS Department of Transportation provides assistance to local communities for the construction of highways or roads necessary to connect existing and industrial sites.
Eligibility Requirements: 1) Must be a qualified business with an initial investment of $300 million. 2) Qualified projects must be directly related to construction, renovation, or expansion of development projects. A public match of $2 for every $1 of assistance is required. 3) Must be a qualified industry making an investment of $50 million or more. Infrastructure must be necessary for access to the project. 4) No indicated qualifying criteria.
