COWLEY COUNTY is located in South Central Kansas just southeast of Wichita. It has a population of over 36,000 and is home to two major cities located on Highway 77, just 18 miles from interstate I-35, several rural communities, and three INDUSTRIAL PARKS.

Both of these major cities offer a wide variety of recreational opportunities including two public and private golf courses, indoor or outdoor swimming facilities, or skiing, boating and fishing at the areas nearby lakes. These cities pride themselves in their progressive approach to improving their parks, with Arkansas City's recent addition of hiking and biking trails and Winfield's new sports complex project. Both have recently completed renovations to their Fitness Centers, promoting an aggressive approach to the wellness of our citizens.

Cultural opportunities range from performances at the Brown Center of Cowley College to the annual Prairie Fest, KANZA Days, and Arkalalah events.

Education is a priority in Cowley County, home to Southwestern College and Cowley County Community College. Residents have also shown their commitment to quality public school facilities, with both school districts recently completing extensive improvements to their facilities.

Over 100 worship facilities exist, some of which offer the choice of a private/parochial education as well.

Cowley County boasts two hospitals, which provide a full range of medical services.

Housing prices are moderate with an average three bedroom home price of $75,000. Cowley County is a safe community with low crime rates and an affordable cost of living, set in a rural area within an easy drive to urban amenities.
